I finished this a while ago, but I thought I'd model it and take a picture before I give it to my friend at work; she'll be transferring to another department this Thursday, and will definitely be missed.
I crocheted this necklace using a a shimmery acrylic/nylon/polyster blend from Patons, called Brilliant. The thread is a light khaki color and has a shot of gold thread running through it, making it sparkle when it catches the sunlight. The shine can be better seen in this closeup photo:
After taking the photos, I saw that some ends frayed slightly (see the dangly thing on the far right...gah! awful!) So I applied a bit of clear nail polish to fix that, and discourage the other ends from fraying. Anyway, the necklace really matches my friend's style...I hope she finds lots of occasions where she can wear it.
I spent most of my afternoon breaking in my sewing machine by working on the drawstring lunch bag. It's just about complete, I just have a couple finishing touches to make. Haha, I totally winged it though, and had to back track many times to adjust things. I was very close to pulling all my hair out and throwing the machine out the window. (Confession: I did end up hand-sewing some of it). Things probably would have run a lot smoother if I had taken a couple of minutes to plan everything. And, you know, read the manual. Carefully. Ah well, lesson learned.
